We are doing much better...

We figured out that Addy had RSV and a double ear infection. Ouch. I get the mother of the year award for naming her Adzilla and not realizing that she was so grumpy because she didn't feel good.

Nice job, Liz.

Sigh.

We put her on breathing treatments, antibiotics, and ear drops and she is much much better now. Poor baby. To make things worse, yesterday, I spied where her eye teeth are coming in. One has already broken through the skin on the bottom. It must have happened, unbeknownst to me, during the week she was so sick. So not fair. She's such a cute, sweet, little sassypants- I hate that she gets hit with all that at once. But- she's back to my smiling happy little girl who has suddenly learned to speak in sentences.

Chasing Sadie around the yard the other day, trying to hand her a ball to play with, caused Sadie to sprint off in quick, uneven circles. She's like a greyhound- so fast. This is Sadie's favorite game- running off and being chased. She's extremely fast and loves to show just how quick she can be. Addy hasn't learned this yet so everytime Sadie took off- Addy replied "Oh no! Wha happened?" in her twinkling sweet Addy voice and continued to half run half toddle to where Sadie stood waiting impatiently for the next run.

I've never heard a sweeter sound than that. Despite how stressful my day may be, that little voice is enough to erase any sort of heavy thought and worry.

Wow I'm REALLY a bad blogger!

My new year's resolution was to be a better blogger...but sadly half of January is over and I still haven't posted anything. Oh well. Better late than never.

Life tends to slip by and time moves way to quickly. If I were a superhero, my power would be to stop time so I could cherish more of it.

Addy, hereunto to be referred to as Adzilla, is a fiesty little thing. She's learned and quickly mastered the power of manipulation through tears and pouty looks. She's a quick study and she's good. I'm amazed at her capabilities at such a young age! I blame Jim...as I always do when Addy shows a rather unfavorable characteristic. Hee. It's what works for us.

I figure I should have a photo montage of the last 3 months instead of trying to cram 3 months of living into a readable post...so I'll get to working on that...which means that it might not get done. I will try though. I promise.

Addy has been sick the last couple of days so her patience is non existent and although I have great sympathy for her and wish my baby to get well, her temper undoubtedly makes for sporadic bursts of pure comedy. Which is why I am now referring to her as Adzilla. Case in point, yesterday, I was attempting to work from home while she was sick (attempting means failing miserably as Addy thought it necessary to turn my computer off every 10 minutes...a seven year old computer that takes 10 minutes just to warm up...so you can see how that was difficult) Anyway, she wanted to push her Barney doll around in her new stroller- it's the only way for her babies to travel. After a couple of minutes of her singing to her kids, I hear her fussing and baby cussing. I venture into the living room just as Barney is snatched out of the safety of his seat and flung across the room. My first thought was "What did Barney ever do to you except LOVE you and Me and be a HAPPY family?" It was then I realized that my sweet angel was pissed because our rocking chair was in the path of her stroller and instead of navigating her baby carrier ONE inch to the left...she thought necessary to hurl Barney and fling herself on the floor in Addy hysterics. Sigh. Welcome to the wonderful world of toddler dramatics.

The Battle of Sleep

Last night Addy did NOT want to go to bed. I had a quiz so it was up to Jim to put her down to sleep. The problem with this is that Jim has no willpower when it comes to being the parent with her so I could hear her babbling and playing with Jim through the monitor and saying "Momma? Momma?" So of course when I open the door and she’s standing there with two toys in each arm and says “hi!” all excited because she’s not in her crib and obviously not going to bed.

I kick Jim out of the room because she knows that he will pick her up and he can't stop playing with her and I tell her in my stern mommy voice that it’s time for night night not playtime and she needs to lay down which she does with a plop and a whine. Then as I’m leaving she starts SCREAMING and flailing about the crib because obviously night night is the end of the world in baby logic and she might die if she has to go to sleep. This kid does not want to go to bed. So I lay her back down in her crib, tell her night night and lay on the floor next to her so she knows I’m going night night too. This little trick always works!

Next thing I hear is Addy going “Momma! Momma! ::smooch smooch:: MOMMA! ::smooch smooch smooch::"

I look up to see this adorable child peeking through the slats of the bed- holding out her hand towards me and making kissing noises at me. How DARE she be soo adorable! Of course I had to kiss her! Which led to more playing of the kissing game, which led to me taking her out of the crib so we could play with her toys. Stern mommy mode went straight out the window and little Addy won the battle. Addy 1; Mommy 0.

Jim, of course, found great humor in this.

We bought our first potty.

So I'm clueless and a bit scared to teach Addy the concept of the potty. But I've decided that I at least need to make her comfortable with the idea so this past weekend, she got her very own pretty pink princess potty. Say that fast three times! The kicker is that it plays a royal tune when used properly! I think this is HILARIOUS and couldn't stop chuckling about it as I was debating over the proper potty in the potty aisle at Target. So many choices! I hope I made the right one. I think when choosing a proper potty obnoxious pink potties are the way to go! In any case, she sure does like to climb on top of it so far. She was mesmerized and even sat on the thing for a minute. She's growing up WAY too fast.

It's potty time!

It's amazing to me the things I get excited about now that I'm a mom. Before I became a mommy, a baby's bathroom behavior really didn't interest me much. I would have laughed at myself as I am now.

Addy came toddling into the living room yesterday frantically pointing at her diaper and saying "diapee" babble babble babble "peepooo" babble babble. It took me a few seconds to realize that she was trying to tell me that she needed to go poo! Even typing this is making me laugh out loud as it's not really something to stop the presses about but I'm SO excited! I grabbed her up and let her know how proud I was of her for telling me. Poor kid was trying to do her business and mommy keeps going on and on and making such a big deal about it. There is no modesty when you are a toddler. I'm not sure if she's ready to start potty training, but it's a start. At least she's aware enough now to let me know what's going on! I'm so proud. :) It just makes me realize how much she's growing into such a little girl and catching on so quickly to her surroundings...plus I can use this post as payback when she's sixteen and acting out. :)

Addy's brilliance

I was having a coversation the other day about babies that are brilliant and know 40 words at 13 months. Addy did not know 40 words at 13 months but it seems in the last couple of months, her vocabulary has exploded. So I started thinking about Addy's vocabulary and realized that I've never really written down how many words she can actually say.

So here is her list of words:

mama<--------obviously my favorite. She has a plush toy makeup compact with a smiley face in the shape of a heart that she affectionately calls "mama". ::swoon::
dada<---the first word she ever said. Jim is so proud
Dut= duck
quack
bubble
dog
ball
mormor= more
moo
peaze= please
tank oo=thank you and her new favorite word which is ridiculously cute and very well mannered. She brought me a book the other day, said "tankoooo" and then threw it at me.
keys
shoes
diaper= this one is new!
appo= apple
Hi
bye
nana=banana
whas dat= what's that
eye which follows with a nice poke in they eye. We are still working on "gentle".
baby
cacko = cracker

and she *may* have said the word "asshole" but I haven't heard it since and I'm seriously hoping it was just gibberish despite the fact that she spoke it plain as day. I need to control my language in the car apparently.

So there it is...proof that she's brilliant. ;)

Stink Eye

Addy has a "stink eye". For those of you not familiar with this look it's a dirty look that you give to someone you don't approve of. It came out in full force this morning.

I dropped her off at school and gave her a book to read which she LOVES. About the same time, a little girl toddled over and took the book from Addy causing her to cry. :( That cry breaks my heart, but she has to learn to share so unlike my mommy's instinct to snatch the book back and give it to my deserving child, I took the book from the little girl and gave them each separate different books to read. The little book stealer joyfully took her book and went to sit down, but my precocious child was not convinced that this new book would be any better than the original book that she had been so excited to read. She went to the reading area, angrily plopped to the floor, and flung the new book to the side. Then she gave the little book stealer sitting across the way the dirtiest most evil little toddler stink eye I have ever seen.

I'm in big trouble when she realizes the power of a dirty look.
